Fries with That?
McDonald's finds it necessary to mount a major public relations campaign in France to bridge the distance between French food safety sensitivities and a Big Mac. Placed in leading print media, including Le Figaro, the week of March 18, McDonald's sets out an open invitation to attend sessions at which questions will be answered.
There are 400 of the 760 McDonald's restaurants across France participating in the weeklong activities. The events include close encounters with hamburg, fries, and bread suppliers; an explanation of how the burger empire is organized; and a look at how McDonald's does its advertising.
All events occur between March 26 and April 5 at various locations around the country including Orleans, Fleury, and Harnes.
Against this massive campaign, one must acknowledge that Quick, the French hamburger chain with over 200 food outlets (including one on the Champs Elysees), is packed with people buying burgers and fries, all rather oblivious to Mad Cow.
