The profit from the sale of these books will be donated to the special fund created by the Government of Greece for the relief of victims of fires and headed by former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Petros Molyviatis.
The fires of August 2007 devastated 670,000 acres of forest, olive groves and farmland, making it the worst fire season in at least 50 years.
The firestorms took 64 lives, and destroyed over 1,000 homes, 1,100 other buildings, and damaged many more in an area that affected the prefectures of Ilia, Messinia, Laconia, Arcadia, Corinth, Evia, Attica (the outlying greater Athens area)and Aitoloakarnania. It will take many years to recover from this tragic event.
The Greek Fire Relief Fund is maintained at the Bank of Greece as account Logariasmos Arogis Pyropathon.
