The Department of Commerce (DOC) investigates to establish the existence of countervailable subsidy. The International Trade Commission (ITC) investigates whether there is material injury or the threat of material injury to the involved US industry.
This timetable is an approximation only because the US Department of Commerce can extend the period required to reach both a preliminary determination and a final determination of subsidisation. On occasion, a countervailing duty investigation may accompany an anti-dumping investigation of the same foreign export product.
